Seattle’s Pioneer Square District encompasses the birthplace of modern Seattle and the city’s first downtown. Most of the Square’s buildings were erected within a decade of the disastrous Great Fire of June 6, 1889. The District began a slow decline during World War I and became better known as a derelict and decadent “Skid Road.”
Preservationists rallied in the 1960s to save the area’s exquisite ensemble of Victorian and Edwardian Era architecture from demolition. Today, Pioneer Square is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is protected by both federal and local historic preservation districts. The core of the Pioneer Square Historic Preservation District lies between Cherry Street to the north, 2nd Avenue to the east, Alaskan Way to the West, and S King Street to the south.
Our drivers can safely whisk you away from the Seattle International Airport (SEATAC) in one of our Motorcoaches to one of the local Seattle area restaurants or hotels. Many of our groups enjoy traveling by bus to the Pioneer Square.
